The Rt Revd Nick Baines, first Bishop of Leeds for the Diocese of West Yorkshire and the Dales “Let's walk this new journey together as we forge new friendships, cross old boundaries, and shape a vision for this new Diocese. I am excited by what lies ahead of us.”
On 20th April, 2014, the Diocese of West Yorkshire and the Dales was created. On Pentecost Sunday, 8th June, 2014, the Inauguration and Confirmation of Election of the Diocesan Bishop for the new diocese will take place at 4pm in York Minster.
The Diocese of West Yorkshire and the Dales will be the first new Church of England diocese in 86 years. Loving God, pour upon us, we pray your Holy Spirit and prepare us for the new Diocese of West Yorkshire and the Dales. We pray for our new bishop and pray you will lead and encourage us, bind us together in love and faith, and open our hearts and minds to new possibilities of welcome, witness and mission. In Jesus Christ, our Lord, Amen.

We will always be delighted to welcome you to any of our churches. We welcome the chance to celebrate the birth of a child and what better way than to have a baptism in one of our churches?
We can baptise your baby or child during our morning services if you wish, but we realise that sometimes it is more convenient to have the service at a later time, particularly if family and friends have to travel a long way. We therefore also offer a service at 1.00pm. Call us or visit our website for more information.
